Updates and Trader Joe Haul

Couple of announcements and updates going on in my life and I am pretty sure it's going to be a long post since I am such a chatty person. So prepare!

Announcements:

I am 99% decided that I will be attending the Academy of Art in San Francisco for a BA in Fashion Design. I have been talking with an admissions coordinator and am going to open house this Saturday and hopefully that is when I will be signing my name on the dotted line! I only say 99% because I want to decide once I attend open house. It's very exciting and expensive but I have very supportive friends and family who are cheering me on!
I got a new job! It's not anything in my field and I think it's way opposite but it will be a great new experience and I will be making a lot more than any other job.

I guess that's all the cool announcements at the moment but I do have some updates!

Updates:

I am 80% sure I am going back to wordpress. I started my blog on blogger technically in March 2008 and since then I have switched to wordpress and back here again because it really is easier to update on blogger than it is on wordpress. Blogger has been great but lately it's having these glitches that I am not happy with. Such as if I want to go in the middle of a sentence it will bring me to delete a picture, I can't comment on blogspot blogs who only want comments from people with bloger, posts that have been worked hard on have magically been deleted and it's just too many cons and not enough pros at this moment.
I am having a hard time with my temp job boss. I don't like to have any altercations and maybe have wrote one harsh but professional email before for another immature authority figure so it's a stressful situation. I just don't understand how a 42 year old woman needs to act so immature to a 23 year old and I don't really know how to handle this situation. I did her a favor of working an extra 2 days after my two weeks and after I had come home one the first day, she had emailed me letting me know she doesn't need me anymore and would like me to drop her key off. Less than 12 hours later, my recruiter called me saying she had called him about me not returning a key and I had told him all the feedback about this lady and he actually knew that she is difficult and he has been having a hard time dealing with her himself. I told him I will mail her key back but she would have to mail me my notebook. I could be the bigger person and drive back to San Mateo and drop it off but after running so many errands for her on my own gas money and car and going back to the store for 2 hours to finish up something, I just don't feel like doing anything nice for her anymore. Then after emailing her and both agreeing to mailing things back, she had called my recruiter and asked him pick my notebook up for me and still expected me to mail back the key. I emailed back right away saying fine, I will drop your key off with him when he gives me back my notebook but felt really bad after a couple of hours and wrote an email to both of them. First, telling my recruiter that I am sorry that he needs to be in the middle of everything and apologizing. Secondly, telling my old boss that I don't think it's right to involve another person and we should follow up with our original plan. I have yet to get an email back from her.

I don't mean to be harsh and actually hate all this drama but I don't take shit either. I will be professional to a point but when it gets ridiculous like it has become then I am not going to take it. Frankly, I don't deserve it and I don't NEED it.

Phew. I knew that was a lot but I feel great now that I wrote it.

Now it is my Trader Joe Haul! It's not much but I still enjoyed walking through every aisle and looking at new products.

I got penne arrabiatta, romain lettuce, cottage cheese, pico de gallo, lasagna bolognese, mini pizzas, brussel sprouts, rice pilaf, jasmine green tea and instant coffee.

I got romaine, salsa and cottage cheese because Erin made a bomb salad and I wanted to recreate it.

Brussel sprouts are tiny and I'm wondering if it's because it's not in season?

I love rice pilaf and this is one of my favorite! I also needed a refill on coffee and green tea.

Everything came out to about $30 and I'm wondering if Trader Joe's is even considered cheap anymore?

Doesn't matter, I still love it!

It's frustrating that I cannot write comments on blogger! I have been doing it anonymously but most of my favorite blogs don't have that option!

Belts

Belts are great accessories! Not only do they keep your pants up but they can accentuate your waist over dresses and tunics.

I have countless dresses that are billowy and bubble-like that I looked like a blob when I wore it but once I put a belt on it became a lovely silhouette.

I've also wore a maxi skirt as a dress with a belt as well.

Silk Done Right

I found a gorgeous simple slip-like silk dress none other than Banana Republic. It's a gorgeous dress and right now retail price is kind of steep (I've gotten cheap since getting such great discounts working at Bloomies!) but it will be a great purchase once the price is in red.

Favorite part is the back. Elegant thing straps that carefully intertwines on the middle of your back. The banded top with the elegant ruffles of the hem.

I need this dress ASAP.

Gift of REI

How is your weekend going lovely girlies?

Blogger has been acting very strange lately and I haven't been able to comment AT ALL even after deleting my cookies. Let's hope it will be fixed soon because there were so many posts that I wanted to comment on!

Today, Richard and I started off the day with breakfast.

Of course, I had an obligatory coffee. At least 3 cups worth.

Jam for my sourdough bread.

I got linguica and eggs with country potatoes. I love spicy sausage to start off my day.

Bread came buttered! If I owned a breakfast joint, know that I will always have the toasts buttered for all yall.

Richard went on a shopping spree at REI and I found that I had about $60 in dividends from when I bought my kid's road bike in 2009!

It's so awesome because I somehow lost my bike shorts and those aren't cheap dearies.

Such a great feeling to get biking pants for free!

Versatile

I am short. That is a fact. However, I love maxi dresses and maxi skirts! I know short girls don't really look good in long dresses but I don't care, I dos what I pleases.

I hiked up my maxi skirt as a dress but this is the first maxi dress that actually fits well for petites!

Then I had a lovely lunch with Richard at Nordstrom.

Started off with Pomegranate Green tea this time.

I made Richard take a picture of my rings.

OF COURSE I had my Salmon Nicoise salad!

Richard got the Turkey Cranberry with a side salad.

Bread and buttah.

Then after lunch I went straight to dinner!

I haven't seen this beezy in two years! She is my sista from another mista. My sister and my friend, Hana was there also.

We shared sweet potato frites with sriracha ketchup.

I got Jambalaya. I don't know what real Jambalaya tastes like but I really like the one at Elephant Bar!

I am soo pooped.

Cross My Heart

I've been obsessed with crossbodies lately or handbags in general. I actually spend a good hour a day just searching through the net and find some goodies for you girlies and myself.

Bright colors are seriously in this season and crossbodies are no exception. I love this J.Crew candy-colored crossbody bag and it's on the top of my list. I hope you gals know by now that I LOVE brown leather totes. Everytime I see a beautiful one, my heart flutters. Of course, I was looking through Olivia Palermo's endeavors and outfits when I spotted this:

Painted Nails

Chanel Black Satin

Painting your nails is a great accessory! Not only is it cheap and practical but it can really make your outfit.

I remember helping a very upset snotty customer at Bloomingdale's and not only did she complain about an employee but she had a snarky remark about her nails. "I mean, what kind of place does Bloomingdale's run when they have employees with chipped nails?" Although, she was a bit too much and harsh, she's also right. I've seen plenty of people with chipped nails and I just thought they were really grimy and dirty because that's the look chipped nails give off.

So ladies, either put another layer when you see a chip or take it off completely and re-do it. Plus, it is a great relaxing hobby.

I have a mixture of very expensive (Chanel) to very cheapy ones (Sinful Colors) and there really is a huge difference in quality. The more you pay, the more pigmented, the longer it lasts and since you're saving so much painting your own, you can afford a pricier one!

Outerlands Pt. 3

I went out with my partner in crime for another great dinner at Outerlands again.

There was a bit of a wait so we had a glass of wine outside while we sat on their wooden bench and watched the sunset.

For the life of me, I could not keep my eyes open in the sunlight. This was probably the best picture out of a dozen.

It was such a beautiful night that we ate outdoors.

and an Italian-style chocolate custard with candied hazelnuts and other goodies. So disappointed they didn't have panna cotta like the last two times. It would've made my night.

You can tell how long we've been there when the beginning of our meal was in the light and we ended with dessert in the dark.

Menswear Watch

This is a new segment to my blog, I have been writing a bunch of blog ideas in my Moleskine and I want to partake in a new direction. I don't think I am the best person for style but I do have my opinions and tips!

So, I will be doing a top 10 accessories you must have according to Annie.

10. menswear watch.

I read in an article that watches are supposedly going to be obsolete in a couple of years due to rapid growth in technology However, Cartier and Rolex have been making gorgeous watches for years and I believe it will always be a classic piece of jewelry.

I had bought this Marc by Marc Jacobs watch for my 22nd birthday and it was one of the best investments ever. I don't wear much jewelry but I have been wearing this almost everyday. Not only is it practical but it suits every outfit, whether you are going out on the town or having a business lunch with potential clients.

I don't think it has to be expensive, I've seen affordable ones at Forever but I believe it has to be stainless steel. The two-tone leather bands are nice too but they are a lot harder to pull off.

This is one investment piece you will have for a lifetime. It is a classic piece of jewelry and it is also chic.

If you can't afford one, you can "borrow" one from your boyfriends.

Worst Job Ever

I have been silent about where I work and I've finally decided to spill my frustrations out here on my blog. You see, I've been working with a temp agency to get a job as an admistration assistant and felt like my prayers have been answered when I landed a 3 month temporary job at a petite lingerie boutique. I didn't realize it at the time but my nightmare had only begun.

The first month seemed great, the manager of the store I was replacing while she went on vacation seemed very patient and understanding and she was a great person. She trained me on everything and gave me a few pointers and even when I made a little mistake she was forgiving. I liked it so much to the point where I had emailed the boutique owner if I can be permanent one day. However, she had told me she couldn't afford me (hello! I was only getting paid $11!!) and that she didn't want to hire anyone.

The manager soon went on her 3 month long trip and I was left with the owner and another lovely coworker who I have become close with. Then this job got increasingly difficult and unmanageable. I had to take on tasks and I literally felt like a slave. I was doing constant emails, steaming thousands of bras, taking inventory of thousands of bras, doing calls, doing orders, packaging orders, cleaning the store, re-doing orders she didn't approve of and just every little unnecessary tasks she had asked me to do. She couldn't trust my emails and would want to proofread before I sent it to a customer. I would then be scolded if I had gotten one punctuation wrong or added too many spaces. She would sigh loudly when I had picked the wrong bra and I couldn't work with her looking over my shoulder. She would even bitch if I had written too big on a post it note because I could write more without wasting anymore post it notes. She made me feel miserable when I worked there and when she had left for a week for business it was HEAVEN.

I had gotten to the point where I was stressed and dreaded waking up early everyday to spend my hellish hours at the store. I work hard without getting any appreciation. When I would do something good she wouldn't compliment me but when I had messed up, I wouldn't hear the end of it.

So, I put my two weeks in yesterday and never felt better. I just feel like at this point in my life I need to do something that I enjoy and after 7 years of working at restaurants, working at a bank and having to making quota and also having a cushy job at Bloomingdale's where I was getting paid a lot more than this job, I know what I am worth and this isn't worth my time.

I honestly feel free like a bird right now.

Although I still have two weeks and I already received an email on a list of what I need to do today, I won't let it get me down now!

Contour

Makeup is art. How is it that a few ounces of powder or liquid create such a different image of someone?

I have a flat face and I crave angles in my face.

That's when I decided to learn the art of contouring.

I used a Lancome powder blush and Mac Mineralize Skinfinish natural in Medium Dark. It's two shades darker than my finishing powder.

I can't really take good picture of myself yet but I hope you can see through these series of pictures on my contours. I now have cheekbones!

I have cheeks but I wanted to have defined cheeks.

This may become a regular makeup ritual =)

Lauren Conrad's new line, Paper Crown has made me speechless. It's as though Lauren Conrad had thought of me as her muse and created every piece to my liking.

I will definitely be purchasing her leather pieces and that gorgeous maxi dress and grey skirt.

J.Crew Haul

I never really liked J.Crew back in the day. I just remember their horrible animal pattern on either green or navy fabric and corduroy pants. I cringe at the thought of it. I would remember just buying their flip flops because they were comfortable and actually affordable.

I started looking at their website last year and realized how much they've changed. I felt as though they targeted the preppy American customers and I hated that look. Now, they've become much softer in colors and are more feminine. They also started teaming up with companies such as Essie and Stila and are only J.Crew exclusive.

These are the past purchases I have meticulously looked over and over at everytime I've went to J.Crew:

Stila for J.Crew in Camellia, pink and grey stretchy headbands and Essie in Mucho Dinero which is like a dusty rose color and that's my favorite shade of pink. I love the packaging of their headbands. It is so elegant and pretty that I don't know if I have the heart to unwrap them!

J.Crew has the best headbands! They aren't the cheapest but they also aren't the most expensive. I've also purchased a silk flower pin that is the gorgeous shade of coral.

I bought this on sale a couple months back when it was an extra 30% and they're from J.Crew kids! Fortunately for me, I am so tiny that I can fit into their stuff! I am so into faux fur scarves that this was too good to pass up. However, it doesn't really stay on my shoulders so I might have to get crafty and add ribbon to tie it together.

My opinion of J.Crew totally has changed.

I highly recommend you girlies to go over and take a look yourselves!

Saturday Breakfast

Usually when I wake up, my hair is all over the place.

Sadly, this is my hair when I air-dry after a shower.

How do you crazy-haired girls deal with it?

I usually am too lazy and will just put it up but I want to be able to wear it down without straightening it all the time.

On the menu this foggy Saturday morning was Asparagus Bacon Frittata.

First, chop up all the asparagus and bacon. The asparagus must be cut pretty thin if you are lazy like me and don't wan to poach them first.

Break four eggs and whisk. I usually use a fork but realized using a whisk makes the eggs more whipped.

Of course add some milk to make it fluffier.

Sautee the bacon and asparagus together. I recommend cooking the bacon a little before adding the asparagus so it gets crunchy.

Add the eggs and seasoning and lower the heat, making sure it doesn't burn on the bottom.

To cook it fully and let it brown on top, put in the oven for 15 minutes at 375 degrees fahrenheit. Add cheese at the last few minutes if you please.

Make sure you have the oven mitts on. I learned this the hard way today, I forgot the handle was hot and I grabbed it. My right hand hates me.

I served it with buttered bagel and there was no ketchup needed!

Of course I had an obligatory large coffee that is not pictured.

Ethereal

I just bought this gorgeous maxi dress that was pre-ordered for a few months. It is just breathtaking when I saw it for the first time.

Unfortunately, I am a wee bit too short and I can pretty much wear it like a dress. Maybe I should!

I realized I ALWAYS go for the same type of style/clothing. I love the ethereal look and I love to pair it with opaque tights, peacoat and high high heels.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces:

This is an Abaete petticoat that is detachable from a skirt I had bought. The petticoat is quite beautiful on its own.

This is a Free People Intimately slip. It's too sheer to wear on it's own but I can see it layered on top of a nude slip worn on a warm night.

My favorite H&M dress that I bought for $10! You've seen me pair this with a grey sweater in this post. One of the best purchases I've ever made and I even bought two, just in case =)

This is usually one of my go-to styles and I enjoy feeling really elegant and romantic.

Inspiration

Many would say that inspiration can be found anywhere. In my case, it's true. I make sure I surround myself with inspiration and keep my mind continually searching for ideas.

My Moleskine

I meticulously jot down every little detail and thought that pops into my head. I will sometimes write, in large bold font, my outfit ideas and sometimes draw little sketches of what I imagine it will look like.

Books
I learn everything there can possibly be learned through the fashion gods such as Sex and the City, Vogue and Nina Garcia.

Tory Burch
How can one designer make such a sophisticated yet simple flat to millions of girls? These are my backup pair that decorate my coffeetable because they are not fun to break in. Until I have enough courage, they will just be very expensive paper weights.

Coffee Table Books
I love the look and feel of huge heavy books stacked on a table. They are basically picture books for fashionistas. I have yet to receive my copy of The Sartorialist in the mail.

Makeup
I love Stila and Barbie. A brilliant force when brought together.

Kate Spade
My first designer bag. I loved the lady-like London feel of her purses and it goes with every outfit. There are now different variations of her Wellesley tote but I have the original and the best.

Little Beauty Bag
This little bag says it all but it's surprisingly roomy.

My First Pair of Louboutins
The shoe that started it all. They are worn to bits and I have retired them once I got my 3rd pair. A lovely anniversary gift from Richard in 2008. They are too precious to continue wearing as you can see how worn they've gotten. Once I find a shoe repair shop I will restore them and cherish them forever.

Yves Saint Laurent
The most sexiest yet fashionable stripper heels I have ever owned. I am as tall as the sky with these on. One must have a ton of confidence to wear these as they are flashy. I made sure I got a pair the year he had passed on.

Polaroid
I have a great Polaroid project going on but I can't find my charger anywhere. This is just a Polaroid my parents bought in the 80's that I love using as decoration. It's such a great thing to have something so "antique."

Parfum
I am such a sucker for French-style perfume with the air squeezer (what is it called?!). I had originally bought this thinking it was perfume but to my discovery my room gets the honor of being spritzed.

Hairbands
I wore headbands a lot when working. I am not quite gifted with hairstyles and this would decorate my hair subtley without being too gaudy. It's also a great tool to have when you don't wash your hair.

Nona's Kitchen

T'was a beautiful Sunday and the sky was clear. It was a perfect day for brunch and then lounging at the beach.

That is exactly what Richard and I did today.

We wanted to eat at High Tides but it was too packed so we decided to eat next door at Nona's Kitchen.

We were brought homemade biscuits with butter and jam as a starter. I thought it was too thin for biscuits! Biscuits need to be THICK and fluffy.

Regular coffee for Richard and French-pressed for me. Coffee is best when pressed or dripped with a little bit of cream.

I ordered the eggs benedict which came on top of their homemade biscuits! Not a bad idea, but if I had known, I wouldn't have stuffed two biscuits beforehand.

Then we went to the beach, laid a towel and just relaxed and talked. We both forgot our phones which led Richard to make a sundial that surprisingly worked really well.

It just goes to show how smart people were back then.

Nice Day

It was a rare and wonderful day in San Francisco today. I woke up early and decided to head down to Java Beach and have some awesome coffee with my beloved. Richard had a brilliant idea to drink at the beach.

Had the infamous buttered bagel with jam. A bit too much jam and it was all over the place, we had sticky hands and it was no fun.

Crack. A.k.a. Java Beach coffee.

We then got our haircut on Irving and got some little snacks since we didn't really have breakfast.

I had an apple juice. It's been WAY too long since I had this delicious nectar.

We got some Shrimp and Chives Dumplings and Shrimp cakes..

Hot dog buns....and some other goodies that weren't pictured.

Then we walked around a trail in Golden Gate Park.

Very serene and wonderful.

This little duck was diving in and out of the water and we watched it swim away. Ducks are super fast in water!

We also went to the dog beach and just relaxed! Made sure the poopies were pooped out.

Date Night

I guess Fridays are date nights for Richard and me. We've been meeting every Friday to catch a late lunch/early dinner and then just spend quality time together.

He's also my photographer hehe.

We found a lovely spot in Foster City next to a body of water and lots of houses. It's a nice little community.

Funny story: That old woman there kept peering over the edge. Richard and I wanted to check out the gazebo and the old woman wanted us to help her take a plastic bag out of the water. She kept using thin little twigs to take it out but couldn't do it. Richard took her sticks and took it out for her. Supposedly, it was floating for about 2-3 days and she didn't want it to choke the sea animals. Yup, that's the bay area for ya!

It was breezy but in a nice way because the air was still warm. It made for great pictures!

I got those Jimmy Choos a few years back for 50% off, which is rare for a size 5 like me, and I wore it a few times. I tried selling it on ebay with no success but I'm glad I didn't because I love them now!

Lunch was at Boudin's Bakery! One of my favorite bakeries!

We had a cookie as an appetizer. T'was a great amuse bouche.

I had the turkey avocado on croissant with a side green salad.

Richard had the turkey cranberry with a pasta salad.

The pasta salad was good before when it had artichokes and other junk. Now it's just bleh.

Now I need to hit the hay because I am sooo tired!

Dinner and Dessert

I have been applying to plenty of jobs this week. My job-search has been on halt since I got a temporary job working about 12-20 hours a week at a bra boutique. However, the money isn't cutting it and I'm not guaranteed a permanent position so my search has continued! It must be better in April since I have two interviews tomorrow! I prefer one job over the other one but decided that I should go to both interviews.

I am also hoping to hear back from a couple of positions soon.

I think I was too giddy to eat my favorite salad EVA! I look kinda dead without lipstick.

Richard and I met up for a late lunch/early dinner at Nordstrom.

We shared a Mango Ceylon tea. I have no idea what Ceylon is and I am skeptical of the nutrition stats. It claims that there aren't any calories but it's made with different fruits and herbs. I thought fruits and herbs had some calories? Does it magically disappear once it's in tea? Anyone please enlighten me.

Nicoise salad with Salmon. Best. Salad. Ever. If I could eat this everyday, I would.

Richard got the Cilantro-Lime Chicken Salad. It's usually with shrimp but this Nordies didn't have shrimp.

We also had an unpictured plate of bread and butter. It was stale and only had ends. Some Nordstroms are fancier than others like the one in downtown.

I know Nordstrom is a fancy department store but Richard and I LOVE Nordstrom bistro cafes. I think we had Valentine's Day lunch at the one downtown. The one downtown has fancy drinks, pomme frites with kalamata aioli and gourmet dishes like Shrimp and Asaparagus Risotto and Braised Short Ribs and the view of the city.

I'll have to say it's one of my favorite restaurants EVA.

For dessert we had La Baguette. It's a bit expensive but it's everything that I love. They have those skinny baguette sandwiches and Cafe Au Laits. I die.

We shared a Raspberry Creme Brulee but there was nothing Brulee about it. However, there was a small nugget of custard in the middle. Copenhagen has the best Raspberry mousse in my opinion.

I had to get a cinnamon twist.

Then had a petite Cafe Au Lait which was delicious and went with all my pastries and dessert.

I realized a little bit of sweet at the end of my meal is satiating. Sometimes I would feel hungry after a meal and decide to eat seconds but lately I would eat a mini Snickers after and I wouldn't crave anything after.

I think I'll try eating fruit right after dinner.

First off, Richard was really touched and wanted to thank all you guys for wishing him a happy birthday! He went to the sushi buffet with his family and ate his heart out and went to sleep around 9pm. He's such a little kid sometimes.

1. Chipotle

There are no words to describe how I feel for my favorite food place. My mouth waters just thinking about carne asada with guacamole (Chipotle guacamole is crack!) and different salsas. It's a surprise I haven't had it in awhile!

2. French Macaroons

Just Red Raspberry please! I don't know how the French do it but they managed to make a dessert super cute and super delicious. I always get a dozen on my birthday!

3. Udon

I love udon. I grew up eating it and I always have to get it when I eat at a Japanese restaurant. I make it a life mission to find THE best udon in the bay area. The #1 so far is at Tsuru in Japantown, not only do you get tempura with it but it's only $8!

4. Bread

I also love bread. I can eat a whole French baguette by myself and sometimes in one sitting. Just something about the fluffy white center and the crusty outer layer that gets to me. I usually eat it plain or with cold butter. I don't like hoity toity breads that have fillings or garlic bread. Bread doesn't need all that crap on there to make it good, it's great on its own.

5. Coffee

I start every morning with a cup of joe. I don't add sugar just milk please, cream on a special occasion.

6. Moleskines

I love Moleskines. I have a ton in every size and color. I love to write and doodle so it's perfect! Also, it is the official notebook of Ernest Hemingway and that man is a genius.

7. Richard

This man is the love of my life. We are high school sweethearts and started dating when I was 16. We were broken up for a year and it was one of the worst times in my life. He is not only my lover but my best friend! I tell him EVERYTHING.

8. My Doggies

They are my little teddy bears! They are always excited to see me everytime I come home, they give me lots of attention and lots of love. They're also very adorable and soft.

9. Friends

Please excuse my face since this was 5 years ago. This is my bestie, Jena, whom I have wonderful food adventures with. She's one of the few people that doesn't mind taking pictures with. Anywho the #9 spot is meant for friends not just Jena!

10. Olivia Palermo

This girl can do no wrong! Well, fashion-wise. I love how effortlessly she puts her clothes together and how fabulous she looks everyday! Definitely my favorite fashion icon.

Little is More

I went to BJ's with Richard last night in celebration of his birthday today! Yay! I told him to run to the bathroom real quick so I can tell the waitress so we can get a free pizookie but, Richard didn't want any attention. He's too modest sometimes.

I haven't gone to BJ's in about two years and their whole menu has changed. They came up with something called "Small Bites" and it was $2.95 per dish and it honestly is a good idea because we can have a taste of everything and keep it under budget!

Richard and I had the fried artichokes with garlic aioli (not as good as mine heehee)...

wings but these aren't on the small bites menu! I just really like their wings...

mini tacos...

and gourmet mac and cheese.

It was about $20 and we were both stuffed! Unfortunately we didn't get a pizookie since we were soo full.

BJ's stepped up their game! I am for sure going back now!

Earth Day

I love the idea of Earth Day although everyday should be Earth Day just as much as everyday should be Mother's Day. Although I didn't do much of anything for Earth Day, I feel as though I don't leave a big carbon footprint as other people. Such as, if I don't find a recycling bin for my empty bottle, I will bring it home to recycle. When I'm not drinking out of a plastic water bottle, I am drinking out of a reusable aluminum one. With Jacob Black's face on it. I call it Jacob Juice.

I am high... off of life! I am not going to lie. I've had a problem with drugs back in the day and I have to say, I don't miss it at all! I was down to 108 lbs (from 130) in a matter of months and it was horrible. I don't know how else to describe being on drugs.

Anywho, I am better, I am sober and I gained a few pounds and look less emaciated.

Barack Obama is also here in the bay going to the Facebook headquarters and I hear it's nuts!

My outfit of the day:

This is my go-to outfit. I wear a lot of black since I used to work at Bloomingdale's. I always wear skinny black pants and flats when I have nothing else to wear and I don't want to look too shabby.

Garlic Frites with Parmesan

Everyone loves fries. Everyone loves garlic. Who wouldn't adore garlic fries?

My mom had bought a Costco bag of potatoes a month ago and now we are trying to find ways to eat them. I figured that I could make garlic fries.

I keep the skin on so make sure to scrub and wash carefully.

Cut into wedges. Make sure not to make them too thick.

Generously sprinkle with salt and pepper before putting it in the oven at 400 F for about 20-30 minutes. Make sure to grease the pan.

In a separate bowl mix olive oil, parsley and minced garlic.

I waited until the edges were golden brown and the potatoes started sprouting bubbles.

Transfer to the bowl and mix, also adding parmesan cheese.

Serve with ketchup.

Little Grey Sweater

I had bought this Zara sweater years back when their sweaters cost about $15. I had a love-hate relationship with this sweater. It's not cropped but it's an awkward length and when worn with a tank under, it looked awkward like I was trying to make it colorblocked. It went into the donation bin in our storage room and it was previously rejected at the thrift store. I woke one morning thinking about the grey little sweater and how beautiful it would pair up with a chiffon maxi skirt. I rushed downstairs to the storage and pulled it out.

It became a masterpiece with an H&M pink chiffon dress I had bought a year ago for $10.

One woman's trash will become one woman's treasure again.

The Outerlands

In the middle of the Muni rails lay a corner bistro-like restaurant with wooden interior that a hippie vibe. I'm not quite sure if it's just called Outerlands or THE Outerlands but they are known for their organic menu. My friend Jena took me for my birthday and tonight we went again.

Tables were already set with glases, water and a candle in a jar.

We ordered our favorite: savory bread pudding. Last time it just had mushrooms, gruyere and chives but today it came with chard, carmelized onions and gruyere. The pudding was made with those really crusty artisan breads.

The poached asparagus with pork shank, pea shoots with a lemon meyer vinaigrette.

Braised shortribs with greens, garlic risotto and artichoke hearts.

Strawberry shortcake with coconut cream.

Honey-Lavender panna cotta with a delicious sugar cookie wedge that was still warm.

It was kind of expensive but to eat good organic food like that was worth it.

Summer Jackets

It's sunny here in the Bay Area but it's still cold! Although I would love to just wear a strappy summer dress it's highly likely that I can. Summers here don't get as warm and I may have a lot of winter coats to keep me warm, it's a bit too much in the summer.

I love blazers, it's probably one of the most versatile coats out there. Although the classic blazer comes in dark colors why not wear this gorgeous tan and black contrast blazer in the summer? It has cropped sleeves and is PERFECT over a short mini dress!

I am still in love with leather jackets. If I can find a faux leather jacket, I would wear it over a floral dress or casually with jeans.

I know it's a tad gaudy but I love faux fur stoles! This particular one I have my eye on. I plan on going to ballets and operas with Richard and it would be perfect during summer nights when you are out and dressed to the nines.

Now I can't wait for summer!

Park Chow

Richard and I met for breakfast at Park Chow before starting our day. This is a cute little restaurant, located next to the Golden Gate Park with outdoor seating and gorgeous interior and is all organic.

We started off with organic coffee which the staff was constantly refilling.

I drank it with heavy creme. Life seems a bit better with real creme and real butter =)

Real butter that was used to shmear my english muffin.

I got the chicken sausage scramble with mushrooms, spinach and caramelized onions. The homefries were a bit on the crunchy side but that's what made it so delicious. Didn't need much ketchup!

Richard and I also shared one blueberry pancake with marscapone. It was the fluffiest pancake ever and the blueberries tasted so fresh. Once eaten with all elements, it tasted like a blueberry donut.

I love little cafes, especially with outdoor seating.

Things I Collect

I am a hoarder. I need to be on that show. I have this weird obsession with thinking that if I use it over time, everything is going to wither and eventually disintegrate. So, that may be the reason why I collect multiples hoping that I can be able to have these treasures for a long time.

1. Flower pins.

I love silk flower pins. I especially have an obsession with Chanel camellia flowers.

Most are collected from ebay and were meant to be stuck on their shopping bags. The headband was actually bought at Neiman Marcus and it's making me sad that it's fading =(

Silk flowers from random stores.

The worst part? These are just SOME of my flowers. Maybe because when you're going to San Francisco, you need to be sure to wear some flowers in your hair =)

2. Little Brown Bag.

I wonder if a little part of me wnted to work at Bloomingdale's because of their iconic Little Brown Bag. Either way, I am obsessed with their line and have bought a couple of items like their lunch bag, large canvas bag (not pictured), couple of keychains (not pictured), water bottle and the coffee mug. The coffee mug was actually given to me as a gift by my friend Hana. She's such a sweetie.

3. Water Bottles.

For a long time I was obsessed with fancy shmancy waters. Everywhere Richard and I went shopping, I would be on the lookout for fancy water.

4. Fashion Magazines.

I reread a lot of my favorite books and magazines. Sometimes I would randomly remember an article I read in said September 2006 issue of Vogue and would look through my archives and read it. I have no idea why but it's hard for me to throw them away!

There are just some of my collections. Some, meaning these are something I am always on the lookout for when shopping or looking around.

Le Petite Dejeuner

I love Sundays! ESPECIALLY sunny Sundays! Richard and I loved the weather so much that we decided to eat outside for brunch.

My outfit of the day:

Blazer; Aqua, top; Jcrew, tweed shorts; Vince, watch; Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Excuse the super white face but the lighting was horrible and I was wearing SPC BB cream. Love my braided bangs?!

We grabbed lunch at Le Croissant Cafe in Burlingame.

Cute little French-like cafe with fresh bread!

Richard's plate: ummm some very herby vegetable filled frittata, mini croissant (which he gave me half of), fresh fruits and fresh-squeezed orange jucie.

Mine was called Le Petite Dejeuner which means breakfast in French and it's a typical French breakfast. I had a choice of a vaguette or croissant with butter and jam, coffee and orange juice.

Can it be any more perfect for me?! All my favorites in one dish. It would've been better with baked eggs or soft-boiled.

I just love my bangs! I've been practicing almost everyday and I feel like I've mastered it! I've also blown out my hair and curled the ends to give it that full wavy boho effect.

I am still debating whether or not to trim my bangs to keep them or grow them out now. I have no idea but I must think quick!

Although your legs would cook in leather in summer, I can't help but to LONG for these. But, I can't seem to find these anymore =( I remember seeing a bunch when working at Bloomingdale's but they're all gone. I know Lauren Conrad's Paper Crown will have one so I'm waiting for those!

Off The Grid

Serendipity.

It happened today.

While Richard and I made our way down to our therapy sesh, we wanted to stop by the McDonald's on haight to grab an iced coffee when we saw this:

Aww yeah... OFF THE GRID!

As seen on Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. A gathering of all food trucks to create the ultimate eating fest.

The lines weren't bad at the cupcake truck, regular taco truck and the Filipino taco trucks but a huge line (all the way to the other end) was for one truck.

The Korean BBQ truck. I saw the menu and it wasn't THAT impressive. Plus, my mama makes the best Korean BBQ!

This truck didn't have a line and it seemed pretty interesting. Japanese riceballs filled with different fillings wrapped up with seaweed. Some were even toasted.

Too bad, Richard and I had our own nosh fest at Popeye's. But, if I had known it was right next to our therapy sesh, I would've eaten there! D'OH!

At least we had In n Out on our way home =)

It was also scorching today here in the Bay Area. I also read that it was a record-breaking mini heatwave at 82 degrees!! Yes, it's not that hot compared to the south or other countries but it was scorching for us. We're always at a constant 40-50 and I even wear my peacoats in July. Yet, we all bitch when it gets too cold and we all bitch when it gets too hot.

San Franciscans are definitely Goldilocks.

Cafe Style

Weather has warmed up in the Bay Area and it is making me crave cafe food! I am longing for lazy afternoons outside at a cafe with a golf umbrella over my little table, an iced coffee with a black straw and I'll be wearing a beautiful floral sundress and oversized sunglasses and people watch.

So inspired that I made my own cafe style lunch.

Chopped spinach salad with half a can of tuna, leftover couscous and chickpeas and homemade balsamic vinaigrette. I decided I love chopped salads better since I am able to get couscous and chickpeas with every bite and not left with all the toppings after all the spinach is gone.

Warmed up Panera Bread cheddar broccoli soup.

A perfectly-cooked soft-boiled egg. I had originally boiled two eggs but the other one didn't cook as well (the larger egg) so I fed that to the dogs.

Delicious.

Of course I had a beer! Just kidding! It's chilled barley tea in a beer mug. The reason why it's in a beer mug is because that's how much barley tea I drink.

Then finished off with two little tiny clementines.

A perfect way to end a scrumptious meal.

I've also pre-ordered something that I can't wait to receive!

A Le Petite Prince Moleskine notebook! I love Moleskines and I love The Little Prince so I had to purchase it right away!

It comes with a little cutout in the pocket.

So excited to write in it! I must buy pretty pens for this!

How I Put on my Red Lipstick

I had a reader email me and ask how I put on my red lipstick. I am by no means an expert or a makeup artist but I will share with you all on how I put on my red lips.

** Please excuse the bra straps, the messy hair, the shiny nose and the bad pictures =P **

First start off with clean lips. No food stains and make sure it isn't wet.

These are my tools for red lips.

First, you MUST moisturize! I love lipsticks but have found that the cheapy drugstores tend to dry out my lips. There is nothing wrong with drugstore brands because I do love them myself but they lack moisture for the lips.

Then you must prime the lips. Red lipsticks tend to bleed (especially when they are cheap!) so primer is a MUST.

This is MAC myth lipstick. This is a cross between concealer and lipstick. It is very matte and very dense. I hear Angelina Jolie uses this lipstick for her lips. It does have the power to enlarge lips. Or just a regular primer like the Shiseido one that I use.

Make sure your lips are matte. At this stage, I will get a facial tissue and press my lips against it to make it more matte.

Then you must line the lips. This is an important step especially if you don't have a lip brush to be precise and color in lips.

You can probably stop after this step and call yourself a chola.

This is Chanel's Russet Moon. I had oought this for my nighttime lips.

Apply generously and blot with facial tissue. If you want them darker make sure after you blot to put on another layer. Keep layering until the color you desire is met.

Light Days

Light denim makes me cringe. I have no idea why since I used to wear light, distressed denim from Abercrombies with my polo shirt (oh God, why?!) back in the day. Now, I've switched to dark black skinny pants/jeans and the darker the better denim pants.

I have this on the top shelf of my closet.

Light denim jeans from abercrombie that I had bought on a whim on sale. I want to be able to let go of my weird loathing for light denim by hopefully wearing them and learning to love them. These are unfortunately flares which looks cute with wedges. I am thinking about pairing them with a navy blue boy blazer, a flowy white top and wedges.

It's sounding cute already, maybe it won't be as hard?

I've now decided that I NEED to eat some porridge/oatmeal in the mornings.

It is the only thing that can keep me full for hours and not feeling fatigue at work. I only do 4-5 hours of work per day but I move around a lot and I get that hypoglycemic feeling. I still blame coffee but I am way too addicted to quit so I must find other means to continue drinking coffee. Hope this works!

I've been trying to find a great angle to take pictures and hopefully be able to use myself as a photographer but it's hard!

Pretty good but my face is blurry! It's actually kind of artistic. I dig it.

Off centered and wearing a raggy old t-shirt I stole from Richard a couple of years ago. It's a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt and what is so significant is that it's a Hard Rock PARIS t-shirt. I die.

Feet are Killing Me

It's no secret that I love to indulge in Christian Louboutin shoes and for a long time I probably would've given my left arm in order to get one. It never got that extreme and I made enough to buy the right amount to keep me grounded.

However, I have two dogs. My first, Titan, was a breeze to train and he was easy to maintain. Maximus, on the other hand, is a handful. He isn't the brightest crayon in the box and he doesn't know what full is.

So, if you guys see where I am going with this, my dog Maximus uses my shoes as chewtoys.

First pair:

Nothing wrong with this shoe.

Then you see this one.

Chewed all the way down to the bone.

Then skinned alive.

Second pair:

Nothing wrong.

You don't see anything really wrong with this shoe either until you see the heel.

Not as bad as the first pair but these are made with pink satin so I don't know how this can be fixed.

Many thoughts ran through my head:

What do you think getting expensive shoes?
What did you think having a dog that is teething?
This wouldn't have had happened if I weren't so lazy and so trustworthy and left my shoes out.
This wouldn't be such a big problem if you had bought cheaper shoes!

I learned my lesson but now am so traumatized that many pairs of shoes are locked away, unworn under my bed.

I've also read a Vogue from a while back that a shoe repair shop in New York specializes in Louboutins but I can imagine that it will cost about the same as the shoe!

Mr. Christian Louboutin, if you can hear me, please be kind and send me replacement pairs please!

Detox

Sorry for not updating as much girlies! I was actually stressed for time right after my last post. I have now learned my lesson and not to procrastinate anymore (or as much).

Reno was fun and I didn't take any pictures. There wasn't any snowboarding either since the weather was terrible.

I have been eating horribly throughout my whole weekend but I mean that's what vacations are for right? Let's just say there was more than overindulging and gluttony involved. The effects of doing so led me to have an unbelievably swollen face and bloated stomach in the morning. This definitely screams detox! Although my definition of a detox is probably a bit skewed.

I don't mean drinking a drink of cayenne pepper and lemonade but basically try and not eat out and eat more veggies.

My plan:

-80% of my meals should have veggies.

-No sauce as possible meaning it should be "clean."

-No more bleached flour (ate WAAAAY too much bread).

I'm still not going to deprive myself but I feel antsy in a way since I feel like I have too much sodium and crap in my blood.

Only pictures I took was the Whole Foods we ate at after driving for hours on 50 since I-80 was closed all weekend!

Whole Foods hot bar is like CRACK. I had a little bit of everything: autumn salad, chicken tikka masala, madras potatoes, basmati rice, brown rice with veggies, Szechuan green beans, a crapload of my favorite: cabbage crunch, garlic noodles, penne primavera, chicken cacciatore, one hot wing and steamed veggies.

Everything was delish especially the Indian food because Whole Foods does Indian food RIGHT!

It was also snowing half the time we were there.

Traveling: Part 1

Richard and I have been travelling on weekends together and it's nice. Richard works a million hours a week so it's a nice way to relax for him and just fun for me!

We are going to Reno this weekend to hit the slopes one last time of the season and it's suppose to be both of our birthday presents to each other.

I love our weekends but....

I hate to pack. I loathe unpacking even more. Since we want to keep travelling on weekends together I just decided that I have my stuff packed already.

The Vera Wang dustbag has all my toiletries and the little beauty bag is my makeup bag and can just be zipped and put in my bag.

My Wang bag has Clinique night cream, Kiehl's sample moisturizer, MAC oil cleanse (great to take off waterproof and is cheaper than Lancome and Shu Uemura) and Clinique non-aerosol hairspray.

The ziploc bag contains a small mouthwash, traveling toothpaste, small solution, small Clinique soap, extra contacts and some cotton pads.

I don't know if it's lazy or neurotic but I have doubles so that way I can have my stuff ready and I won't feel like I forgot something like a toothbrush. I used to take my toothbrush from home but most of those times I would forget it and would have to buy one at a local walgreens and they ain't cheap people! The Clinique traveling soap is a great deal because you get 3 little soaps for about $15 and it comes with a traveling case.

Although the soap (I keep typing soup!!) is not really great for people with dry skin but it's awesome for super oily people like me.

Pretty Girl Rock

Anyone heard of that song? It is seriously stuck in my head! However, it is pretty catchy and it has somewhat of a good message?

Anywho, lately I've still been consuming lots of these:

Why is it so addicting? I seriously want to cut back but my mornings seem so unfinished without these. I need to trick my brain into thinking that tea is a worthy component.

I also have been feeling pretty weak after just consuming just coffee and I keep thinking that I am allergic to caffeine but I also think it has to do with my weird scheduling of eating. I go hours without eating and it's not healthy.

Richard and I went to the gym the other day and I couldn't keep up because I just felt so weak and tired. So weak, that we immediately got food after.

We went to a place in Pacifica called The Green Enchilada and I thought it was a chain until I googled it and realized there is one in Pacifica?

It's a Mexican restaurant that also sells rotisserie chicken but everything is organic and all their meat is from Niman Ranch.

I had water but Richard got fresh-squeezed pineapple juice. It was alright but not sweet enough!

We shared a taco plate

and these awesome nachos. The chips were baked, not fried and it was crispier. There wasn't a lot of cheese though and sometimes I get nachos just for that cheez whiz!

I realized I have to run a lot of errands that I don't want to do (like closing accounts at banks) and returning stuff but I must perservere!

Night Vision

My house went without ONE hour without power and it was the longest hour of my life. In times like these, I wish I followed through with my ukelele dreams so at least I could've played in the candlelight.

That's settled then. I need to buy a uekelele and learn to play it ASAP.

However, during that one hour in complete darkness I decided to use the night view on my camera. My camera is FAMOUS for being able to capture everything in night as you would view during the day without the use of flash.

Can you tell it was pitch-black when I had taken it?

AH-MAZING.

Another amazing find:

Panera Bread Broccoli Cheddar soup from Costco. There were two tubs of this delicious artery-clogging creamy soup.

I die.

Does anyone watch 30 rock? Unless you live under a rock I am hoping you are religiously watching this show like I am.

The weird thing is, I have a crush on this guy:

Pete Hornberger. I think he is charming and I love his smile! I am a total creeper I know.

Spring Cleaning

Spring is almost here and I have this urge to clean and re-organize and re-decorate my room. You see I still live in the bedroom I grew up in. I lived by myself in San Jose for almost two years and decided that I needed to move back home and now that I have accepted that I will be here for awhile I want to keep up to date with my room.

These Chanel symbols were actually made by Richard when I was 16 (I know he's a sweetie!) and he knew how much I loved Chanel, fashion and France that he made it for one of our anniversaries or my birthday. Whatever, you know when you were teenagers you were celebrating monthiversaries!

My biggest challenge is to make this look more presentable. I used to have this whole bookshelf dedicated to my Vogue magazines that I have collected over the years but downsized. However I have other crab on there like thermoses, lunch bag, clorox wipes, an espresso pot, sketchbooks, cups and the list goes on.

Another place I need to reorganize is my beauty shelf on top of my dresser. I need to find a way to put my headbands in a better more organized fashion.

I want my room to be girly now. I've always been such a tomboy and those few pieces of those wall ornaments were to girlify myself and I need something better and more appropriate. I just need to think of ideas and will share it with you girlies!!

I'm a girl! Born on March 11, 1988 and born around 2 in the afternoon. I don't know how they measured the weight but I am pretty sure I was a pretty plump baby from what my mama said.

Fringed

Sorry I didn't do my post yesterday. My plan was to do it after dinner but dinner ran late and I just went to sleep instead.

I finally redid my hair couple days ago! I did my bangs two months back but they were too short and too blunt so I tried to make it look a bit piecey.

I think my hair is a bit too coarse for bangs but whatever I'm going to rock it!!

Last night, my bestie Jena took me out for a late birthday dinner at the Outerlands.

This was the best meal of the night and I want to recreate this at home. This was a savory bread pudding with Gruyere and mushrooms.

Then we had a salad of greens, endive, some Japanese orange that tasted very tart like grapefruit, sliced almonds and dates with vinaigrette. I made sure I had each item in every bite because it was such a good combination.

Then for dinner we had a chocolate tart

and butterscotch panna cotta.

I die.

So delicious and fresh. This restaurant uses organic and local items so the menu is literally on a 5x7 card and it changes weekly.

Then we had a chitchat while netflixing back at her place. Her boyfriend's kitty was so intrigued that she sat perfectly on the edge of the chair and watched me. She also came over and sat on my lap and sniffed me. I think she smelled the doggies.

I am deathly tired and I need to get ready for work while watching Jersey Shore.

Java my Beach Please!

Most of you don't know but Richard lives RIGHT next to the beach. Plus, he lives two blocks away from this piece of heaven:

Java Beach. It is a hangout spot for surfers and they serve awesome coffee and baked goods. All organic as well.

On Sunday, Richard and I met at Java Beach and got some organic coffee. I got a buttered bagel as well and it was heaven. I still have mind-shattering dreams about it. It had a chewy crispy crust and so bready and soft on the inside.

We decided we will always meet Saturday mornings so I can always have a buttered bagel and organic coffee =)

We then hiked along the trail at Trails End.

We were basically on the other side of the bridge from Saturday.

Then we came across this creepy maze.

That pink hat was freaking me out.

I've also decided I am the worst mama in the world because not only did I forget to mention Maximus' birthday but also Titan's!

His was yesterdays. We're all 2 days apart.

Titan is my first puppy ever and he changed my world.

When he was a puppy his ears would stick up and then stick down and then one ear up and one ear down and finally they just stayed put.

Maximus loves to eat and Titan? He LOVES to sleep.

We fed him vanilla ice cream and he was happy starting his 3rd year.

Tea Party

My birthday weekend was very fulfilling and I couldn't have asked for a perfect weekend. After Crissy Field we picked up the poopies and took them to the beach and played in the sand for about two hours. Richard and I wanted a really great dinner and decided we needed to grill some steaks and veggies to end the perfect birthday.

Richard was hankering for my aioli so I made some to eat with our sweet potato fries.

I had a piece of steak, hot links, rice pilaf and some veggies. I also made bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes that was really delicious. I love grilling.

Then today my sister, my cousin and I went and had a little elegant tea party.

Earl Grey with sugar and cream. The whole shabang. It was pretty good considering I like to have my tea black and plain.

I wore red lipstick because it's my birthday beezies!!

Our tier of deliciousness.

First tier had some cookies, blondies, an eclair and some fruit.

Second tier had little tea sandwiches. I forgot all the flavors but there was an egg sandwich, curry chicken, cucumber cream cheese, turkey dill and a turkey artichoke canape.

The third tier had a cinnamon apple scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream.

Then we had two plates of canapes. It had your standard brie and pear canapes and other ones I've never heard of.

I Love my City

San Francisco is HUGE. I was born and raised here yet I haven't gone to most districts. I usually just go to the same spots because I know what I like and today was no exception.

Richard didn't really blow off our plans. I was just too upset last night and he actually moved our date an hour later.

Since it was my birthday, Richard took me to La Boulange for brunch and French macaroons.

Started off with the obligatory large French roast. Since it was my birthday I used whole cream =) It was weird though because towards the end of our coffees we saw specks of ground coffee. I don't know what their coffee methods was but I don't appreciate chewing on grounds!!

Then I had the omelette with spinach, mushrooms and ham. It was okay, nothing special but the potatoes were really delicious! It was crispy and hard on the outside, white and floury on the inside. Of course I enjoyed my piece of bread with butter.

Then I wanted to go to Crissy Field because I just love it there and one day I would love to live there.

Funny story about these jeans. I actually bought these a couple years back and spent a fortune. I bought them in a size 25 (my high school size) and hoped that looking at these skinny jeans would make me lose all 30 pounds I gained. It didn't motivate me for the next 4 years but now they fit!!

I also took a sticker from La Boulange and didn't realize it meant happy birthday. The sales associate at the Marc by Marc Jacobs store actually told me.

We also decided to enjoy some baked treats at Crissy Field.

Sparkling Sprinkles

Today, I turned 23 years old.

And again must I share my birthday with a horrible occurrence. My mom actually called this morning not to say happy birthday but to warn me of the tsunami.

I also had to work today but had to split my shift in half to come back home to do a study and then drive through traffic to get back to work only to drive back home in worser traffic.

Then Richard blew off our original plans so he can go biking with his boss.

I can't help but to feel upset and just want to lay in bed all weekend.

Sigh.

Once You Dip, You Won't Acquit

There is absolutely no doubt that I love Greek yogurt and garlic. So what happens when you combine the two?

Face-rocking explosion on your tastebuds.

It's my version of a garlic aioli

Ingredients:

garlic (depending on how garlicky you like it so you know I put about a spoonful)
butter (depending on how much butter you like. I don't particularly like melted butter so I had enough to sautee my garlic a little)
Greek yogurt (I used 0% Fage)
salt and pepper
chili flakes

What you do is melt the butter with garlic on a frying pan and then mix it with Greek yogurt, salt and pepper and chili flakes if you like it hot.

I dipped my Trader Joe's sweet potato fries in it but I usually use it to dip my fish since I hate tartar sauce. I am also pretty sure that it will rock your face on a regular baked potato.

I failed to mention that it was Maximus' birthday yesterday! He is now 2 in human years. I still remember the day I brought Maximus home.

He has permanent puppy dog eyes and isn't afraid to use them to get what he wants!

This is when he lost all his puppy fuzz and was short-haired.

Now he has a lions mane and ruffles. He looks a bit older but he is still handsome as ever! I am always asked if he is a miniature Golden Retriever but he's actually a cockapoo mix. I consider him the Brad Pitt of dogs because he is so handsome but I think I say that because I am his mama.

Little Pies

I had such a long day today. It started with waking up at 5:30 in the morning and heading down to San Jose to help my parents out with their business and then driving down to San Mateo to work from 1-5 and then heading down to San Francisco for my therapy sesh and then Richard and me having our mini dates after our sessions and now it is 10:41 at night and I am finally home!

I started my morning off with a Tully's coffee. Oh it was quite delish. One must try Tully's on a crisp morning to experience coffee nirvana.

After our therapy sesh we went and got some Starbucks. I got these cute little bites which are $1.50 for one or $2.50 for two.

I got a red velvet whoopie pie.

And a sweet lemon bar.

Both are good but not fantastic. Definitely enough to satisfy my sweet tooth and a great complement to my tea.

Day 6: A picture of a person you'd love to trade places for one day.

No hesitation, definitely Olivia Palermo. I would LOVE to take her seat in fashion shows and kiss her delicious mancandy.

In Order: Part Deux

I realized I have a ton of stuff in my room. Just piles and piles of stuff just waiting to be organized. Since I have a lot of time I thought I would take this opportunity to do a lot of inventory and organizing in my room/closet. The clothes are going to take some time and Excel is going to have to help me out and Richard gave me a brilliant idea to take pictures of everything I have and organize them that way too. I also want to be able to look through my pictures and combined them and plan for outfits that way as well.

Today I organized my nailpolishes.

I am embarassed to say I have enough nailpolish to open my own salon.

These are most of my nailpolishes but I have a couple laying around in crevices of my bathroom, desk, some still in shopping bags that I bought them in.

The Christian Louboutin box is downstairs where I do most of my painting and have the latest color I bought. Plus other small stuff that I never bothered to clean up like that Evian water mister (I know, I don't know what I was thinking either), fake eyelashes and makeup samples.

It's all overwhelming right now but I know I will feel refreshed when it's all over and organized.

I am going to reward myself with some Chipotle since it's the last day for the promotion =(

Day 5: A Picture of your favorite memory.

I know the picture is tiny but it's a panoramic view of San Francisco. I realized I can't choose a favorite memory but I can show you a picture of the city where I had the most memories. From going to school for the first time (I was so excited I woke up super early and put on my Disney backpack!), my first date with Richard, first time going to a Giants' game in Embarcadero and the best places I shopped and ate. It was actually the first city I had a really nice gourmet fancy shmancy dinner.

In Order

I am not the neatest person in the world. My bedroom probably gets the worst of my creativity. When it comes to inspirations and ideas in my head, I drop everything in order to perceive it. Such as, wearing THE perfect outfit and all pieces of clothing that didn't make the cut would drop to the floor, forgotten until I find the inspiration to use that piece again. There would also be plenty of nights in which I would browse blogs and see some fierce fashionistas rocking beautiful makeup causing me to run to my room, dig through my makeup and experiment. You can just imagine a little girl running to her room, dropping to her knees rummaging through her makeup bag, tubes of lipsticks and mascaras flying about.

Over the years, I have collected a lot of makeup and I needed a better way of organizing them instead of digging through big makeup bags to find one little tube of lipstick.

This is just some of my makeup (besides the necessity and essentials in my little beauty bag) that was just in bags.

I bought this flat Sterilite at Target for $3.99 that was perfect! This slips right under my bed and I can be sure to find a certain piece in no time.

These containers are also stackable so I'm going to go buy some more.

I also tried organizing my closet since I felt productive...until I stumbled across this:

My Louis Vuitton Speedy. I bought this a couple years back and never used it because, well, I got a size wayyy too big. I initially wanted to get the Speedy 30 but realized the next size up was about $20 more.

I think I have great ideas to rock this.

Day 4: A picture of your night

This is a picture of my nights. I am usually driving to places at night such as dinner dates or the gym and I love to drive at night. There were plenty of times when I would come home from San Jose late at night and felt solace every time. I would be the only car in the middle of the highway, beautiful dark mountains and sky, music blaring and my windows down. I would then leisurely just shut my mind, listen to the music and feel soothed by the road.

It's probably the only time when I can just be.

Sunday is for Brunch

I had a tough time last night. I had so much anxiety and it mostly had to do with Corel Paintshop. I wanted to make a beautiful header that comprised of things that I was passionate about like a Christian Louboutin heel and a cup of coffee but I couldn't get it. Well I know I have to give myself some credit it was my first time using it and my header didn't come out looking that bad right?

Anywho, Richard and I wanted to get brunch today since Sundays are for brunch! Our original plan was to eat at Boudin's but decided last minute to eat Pasta Pomodoro brunch.

We got to the restaurant and realized they didn't have brunch anymore! Since when you guys?! Why didn't you warn me?!

We started off with bread and since we got there right when it opened it was warm and toasty. Yum. The bread got less fluffy though.

I got the lunch express special so I started off with a small insalata misto without the gorgonzola cheese.

Then I got the healthy chicken which came with whole wheat fusilli, steamed zucchini, grilled chicken with pomodoro sauce. I was expected huge pieces of zucchini rounds and chargrilled chicken on top of pasta but basically got regular pasta. I need to stop expecting so much at chain restaurants.

Richard got a side of brussel sprouts for us and it was deliciously cooked! I love brussel sprouts =) especially when it's cooked to perfection!

Our waiter looked like Jay Sean and I decided to let him know so I can make his day. As he approached I asked him, "You know who you look like?" Then he said, "Don't say Jay Sean."

I guess he gets that a lot.

Day 3: A picture of the cast of your favorite show.

My favorite all-time show has got to be The Simpsons. I mean, what is there not to like about this show? It's not on cable, the yellow skin is amazing and it's funny. I mean seasons 1-12 are funny. The reason why I love this show is that it's not just all comedy, it has its sentimental moments and that's what makes a great show. I mean I also love Family guy but it's just always cruel and funny. The Simpsons has moments where it makes me cry (when Homer meets his mom after a long hiatus),and moments where my heart melts (the episode when they tell the story of when Maggie was born) and when I get scared (the episode where they find an "angel"). Also, Conan O'Brien wrote for them for a long time!

Beach Day

Richard and I decided to go to the beach today with the doggies and I haven't gone to the dog beach for a long time so it was great to be out there again.

Love this beach for the great views. You can see the Golden Gate Bridge from a distance.

Plenty of dogs that love to play. These dogs love to play more than the dogs at the dog park. Plus the dog-owners aren't as snarky.

I tried for the first time at "rock climbing."

I've always wanted to be able to climb up a mountain like a monkey and be agile so it got me excited! I'm going to go rock climbing soon!

After a good hour and a half we decided to go home and took the stairs.

These stairs scare me. When I was 45lbs heavier, I would die halfway through and felt like passing out.

This time I was able to make it to the top without struggling!

Then after Richard and I got CHIPOTLE!

Are you guys even surprised that I got this?

I've been with Richard for almost 6 years but known him for about 10+ years. We started dating when I was 16 and he was 18 but were really good friends before that. We would play AOL checkers Friday nights (I know we were just as fun couple years ago! har har) and one time we set up a date to play checkers at 6am on a Saturday morning and we did. As corny as it may sound Richard really is my best friend. The one person I can tell everything and anything to and I couldn't have asked for a better man.

60 Days

There is a little game that is going on Facebook and although I think it is stupid to do it on Facebook but it's perfect to do on blogs! It's called 60 days and each day you have a picture and a story.

Day 1: A picture of yourself with 15 facts.

This is a picture of me doing what I've been doing lately. Just getting acquainted with my camera =)

I was born in San Francisco and grew up here in the Bay Area. I think it's pretty mind-boggling that people actually drive hours to see the beach but I guess I'm a little spoiled that way.
I am 100% Korean-American but identify myself with being American more than being Korean. So in other terms "white-washed."
I am 4'11.75 but like to round up so I'm 5'0.
I read a ton of books while growing up and trying to get back into it.
I've never eaten a big mac and don't plan on eating it anytime soon.
I am a Pisces Dragon which is a juxtaposition in itself.
I play the violin and piano.
I didn't learn to speak English until the 1st grade which is very odd for someone born in the US of A.
I was robbed when working at the bank. It was horrible because I had to go to court and point the robber out.
I met Tyrese at a mall at the age of 12. He was one of the nicest people I've never met and had a mini conversation with me and my friends while signing our Sam Goody's (remember that store?!) receipt paper.
When I like something, I buy many multiples. I have doubles or triples of the same shirt, dress or pants in my closet. Yes, I know that's kind of odd but remember I'm a hoarder!
I still have my security blanket from when I was a child that I still sleep with. I get very protective of it and don't even let my dogs touch it!
I cry in almost every movie I've seen. Well besides comedy unless there was a mushy moment.
I love to paint my nails while watching anything fashion-related show on television.
I'm a netflix whore. It's also convenient since the location is in San Jose I can get my DVD in one day when I sent it! Awesome.

Those are all pretty random facts and a lot harder than I thought. So I hope you girlies enjoyed learning a bit more about me =)

Brain Toniq

I went to a workshop at the Unemployment department today and it was HORRIBLE. First off there was about two fights and many people were kicked out and I just felt out of place. Many people were very angry and I kept hearing F-bombs dropping everywhere and overall I just felt really uncomfortable. I need to find a job ASAP so I don't have to attend anymore of these workshops. I do have a couple of interviews lined up so let's hope someone wants me!

I went out with Richard last night after our therapy sesh and we went to the new Whole Foods that opened on Haight. It was small and had lacked a lot of hot foods at the hot bar but it was just like any other Whole Foods. I think the only difference with this one is that there are straight-up granolas that work here. A guy with dreads and very hippie helped me out at the cash register and it was a pretty awesome experience.

Richard mentioned that the employees here seem very happy and I have to agree. Maybe it was the best location for Whole Foods.

While we were checking out with our food we saw this drink: brain toniq. It's supposed to make you smarter? I don't know but it was expensive, vegan and tasted pretty good.

Do I feel smarter?

Maybe. Not quite sure. Maybe I should get a refund?
Well now I will be taking my dogs for a walk and running some errands so have a happy Thursday loves!

Soft Lips and Creativity

Lately I have been really getting in touch with my creative side ever since I thought doing fashion journalism might be in the works for me. I mean I don't really have any credibility as to journalism or writing but I have been reading since I was a little girl. My parents would take my sister and me to Toys R Us and while my sister looked at barbie dolls, I was looking at which Boxcar Children series I have yet to read. I know many writers have the same interests as a child as well so I'm crossing my fingers and hope to see if I enjoy it!

This is what I have been doing lately:

Making sure my lips are supersoft (I realized how much crusty lips look ridonk!) and my moleskine is handy when I have creative thoughts and ideas that I need to jot down.

These are my lips must-have. Rosebud Salve which is a cross between vaseline and lipbalm and Smashbox Lip Exfoliant. The Rosebud Salve I put on religiously and have about 3 cans scattered around so my lips will never be dry. The Smashbox Lip Exfoliant I got as a gift from Sephora (for purchasing a crapload!) and it works wonders. It is a bit pricey at $18 but it's easy to use. You just get a small dollop and rub on your lips until it's smooth, then you just wipe off and then put on some Rosebud.

My Moleskines. The smaller one is a weekly planner that keeps me up to date (I told you I was anal!) and the larger one is a Plain Moleskine that I sometimes draw and write ideas in.

Rituals

I realized the type of person I am (very anal of CERTAIN stuff) that I have rituals that I do everyday. For example in the morning right when I wake up:

I text Richard. It's usually just saying, "Boo!"and he'll be sweet enough and play along and say, "Ahh!" back.
Check my emails.
Check Facebook and usually read all the notifications that I have received during the night.
Check SFgate.com for mine and Richard's horoscopes.
Do my bathroom ritual
Make coffee while the laptop warms up.
Read blogs and surf the net.

It does get a bit more neurotic because I do have my night rituals as well. Maybe it's an early sign of OCD? I remember when I was younger I would have trouble going to sleep if my ritual wasn't done right. I don't know how I was able to relax throughout the years but I feel like since I have SOOO much time that it may start up again.

Anywho, I went on a Safeway run because Fage yogurt was 4 for $4 and Honey Bunches of Oats were 3 for $5. While I was in the yogurt aisle I saw this:

Athenos Greek yogurt. It probably was their next step in a new product after hummus.

The shape of the container reminds me of cottage cheese doubles but it was a bit pricey. It was on sale for $1.50.

However, it was delicious! There was plenty of honey to mix in and I didn't mix the honey all the way so I can get huge blobs of honey in my mouth. It was kind of hard to transport all the honey into the yogurt but I'm guessing Fage probably has their awesome honey transporter pantented so everyone has to do it the hard way.

It was yums and maybe if it gets cheaper than $1.50 (I mean Fage is usually $1.50 NOT on sale!) then I would buy some more.

Now I will be noshing on some delish Greek yogurt because I made myself hungry.
